How to Change the Color Lights on Msi Laptop Keyboard

SteelSeries Keyboard Color Change

MSI is known for well-built gaming laptops with the kind of flashy features you'd expect from a gamin rig. Most high-end laptops support regional or even per-key RGB backlighting. This gives you the opportunity to dial in your keyboard lighting down to the last key. An MSI laptop has all the necessary drivers and software to control the keyboard lighting. Since we are talking about SteelSeries keyboards, it'll be using the SteelSeries Engine 3 to customize the lights – the software in question should be in the Start menu. Here's how to change the keyboard lighting color on your SteelSeries keyboard.

Changing Keyboard RGB Lighting

Step 1: Open the Start menu and search for SteelSeries Engine3.

Step 2: Click on the MSI Per-Key RGB Keyboard option. Here, you'll see all your keyboard and Lighting default settings.

Step 3: Click the Config button in the lower-left corner.

Step 4: The Configuration Window should open on the left side of the screen. You can select one of the default settings. Or create your own Configuration by clicking the "New" button at the bottom.

Step 5: Enter the name you want to call the new Configuration. You can even specify all the applications this Configuration should apply to and click Save.

Step 6: Now you're ready to customize the lighting for your keyboard.

Benefits of a Backlit Keyboard

Even if the gaming laptop you want (or the one you can afford) doesn't come with a backlit keyboard. You can always hook up an external keyboard with the customizable backlighting you want. These are some of the benefits of a backlit keyboard.

Wrapping Up

The keyboard is your primary interface with your laptop. Therefore, a good keyboard is important to your comfort and success. Backlighting illuminates the letters and symbols on the keys to make them more visible in low light situations. Both membrane keyboards and mechanical keyboards can come with backlighting. They can also be integrated into both desktop and laptop keyboards. Not only does customizing the different zones of your laptop keyboard look cool. But it serves a very functional purpose of helping you know what keys to move to very quickly when gaming. And if all those colors ever get to be to much, you can always switch off this feature.
